Procurement policy

General procurement principles

At all times DanChurchAid strives towards practicing procurement based on high standards and international procedures.

The standards and procedures build on principles, which ensures that DanChurchAid staff and partners at all times guarantee equal opportunity and fair treatment of our suppliers and contractors while ensuring high standards for integrity, transparency, fraud prevention, documentation, performance as well as best quality and value for money.

These principles guide us in our daily work and make up the general principles of our Procurement Manual.

Ethical Procurement

DanChurchAid aims at utilizing ethical procurement as an instrument to further economic, social and environmental development in our recipient countries and regions.

DanChurchAid is signatory of The Code of Conduct for The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief and we are HAP certified (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership).

DanChurchAid has a great responsibility to manage the funds we receive correctly and transparently, and our anti-corruption policy defines the rules and principles for how to handle and avoid misuse of funds.

In all procurement activities we strive to uphold these policies and standards.

Ethical Procurement Policy

Ethical procurement is about taking social and environmental factors into consideration alongside financial factors when making procurement decisions. Our ethical procurement principles guides us to look beyond the economic parameters and efficiency in procurement, and additionally consider the life cycle of the products and the associated social consequences, risks, and /or implications for society and environment.

Like the rest of DCAs relief and development work this ethical commitment is a continuous process which will contribute to creating improvements for the world’s poor and neglected people - and supporting sustainable development. Through our ethical procurement policy we will strive to support Human Rights; ensure workers freedom from exploitation and discrimination; provide security and equity in employment; and minimize environmental damages.

From 2012 our contractors must sign and live up to the ethical requirements outlined in the  Code of Conduct for Contractors (96.58 kB)

DanChurchAid’s ethical principles and Code of Conduct for Contractors are based on the Danish Initiative for Ethical Trade (DIEH) and UN Global Compact principles.
