Buy a shallow well and help provide clean water and stabilise the water supply in Zambia

In collaboration with our local partner in Zambia, Women For Change, DanChurchAid has undertaken well building to provide clean water to the citizens of Zambia.

The area of Southern District is often dry and long droughts are common. The water supply is thus unstable and often polluted. One of the consequences of the water pollution can be seen in the widespread diseases of dysentery, cholera, rabies and other infectiousness diseases prevailing amongst the locals.

Often, children and women are in charge of collecting water for their villages and homes – sometimes walking extremely long distances to do so. Often, the water they collect is polluted...

The plan is to build boreholes as well as shallow wells - the boreholes are a more permanent solution in comparison to shallow wells that often only last 4-5 seasons. The price for a shallow well in Zambia is DKK 6,800.
