DanChurchAid joins ACT Alliance and is thus moving up to the big league as one of the major actors in the world working in humanitarian assistance and development work.
Private corporations form partnerships and alliances, and it is also necessary to think big within the world of development and humanitarian work. If you are big, it is easier to get influence and to make better use of privately raised funds and government funding. ACT (Action by Churches Together) is a worldwide network of church-related organisations working in humanitarian assistance and development.

”Together with our partner organisations, we become one big professional family. All organisations base their work on the same minimum standards, so we can guarantee quality in all activities. In ACT Alliance we will use each other’s competencies. DanChurchAid has its strength within food security, logistics and humanitarian mine action, and we can offer know-how on these specific issues to all ACT partners. In return, they can offer know-how in other fields,” says Henrik Stubkjær, General Secretary of DanChurchAid.
Cooperation with church-related organisations all over the world has existed for a long time in connection with great disasters. Now, long-term development work is also included in the ACT cooperation.
”As an ACT Alliance partner, DanChurchAid gets a new status. We have more influence and impact on the decision-makers when we speak on behalf of ACT. We can raise our voice about the inequalities and human rights violations we experience in our work for the poorest in the world,” says Henrik Stubkjær.

The membership of ACT Alliance becomes official on April 24th 2010 in connection with DanChurchAid’s annual meeting. John Nduna, the new Head of Act Alliance, has been invited as speaker. The head quarters of ACT Alliance are situated in Geneva.
”We will not change our name right now, because in Denmark our name is a strong brand in relation to the decision-makers, the media and our supporters. Internationally, however, our partners and beneficiaries will know us as ACT,” says Henrik Stubkjær.
