A Framework Partnership Agreement between the Humanitarian Aid Department of the European Commission (ECHO) and DanChurchAid enables DanChurchAid to implement ECHO funded projects worldwide in a broad rage of sectors including water and sanitation, food aid, shelter, non-food item to humanitarian mine action. Since 2000, more than 20 projects funded by ECHO have been implemented by DanChurchAid and it's local partners world wide.
In 2001, DanChurchAid and its local partners (mainly the Lutheran World Federation and the Eritrean De-Mining Agency), supported by ECHO, initiated a major programme of Mine Risk Education around Gash Barka and Debub - areas that were seriously affected by the war. Thanks to this type of intervention, current evaluations show a steady decline in the number of new land mine accidents in these areas.
