The cooperation started with the DANDEC supporting in the accreditation of the Albanian EOD operators, and was throughout the year enhanced to also include assessment of the key operational staff, with regards to their technical/planning skills. This cooperation has also given the DANDEC valuable experience within humanitarian demining, which has in some cases been adopted within their standard operation procedures for international deployed personnel, as well as during their basic training in Denmark. The DANDEC is visiting Albania twice a year, as well as the DANDEC being visited at least once by DCA Albanian throughout the year.

This kind of cooperation, between HMA Programmes and their respective armies in their home countries, has been promoted to the military attaches within the foreign embassies in Albania. The idea has been well received, and it is hoped that other countries worldwide will adapt the same productive cooperation, that exist between the Albanian Programme and the DANDEC.
The cooperation in Albania is planned to continue until the closedown of the Programme, in early 2010. DCA Mine Action and DANDEC is seeking similar cooperation in the DCA Mine Action portfolio in order to share information’s and best practice in Mine Action.
The DANDEC will during 2008 provide training facilities for the DCA EOD level 3 course, attended by most DCA HMA Programmes, which will also be attended by other humanitarian demining NGO’s.
