DanChurchAid will ensure that the emergency relief and rehabilitation support rendered is based on humanitarian principles and the Code of Conduct that a number of humanitarian organisations have committed themselves to observe, as well as on long-term development concerns in the area.

Capacity building of local partners

Emergency programmes will focus on capacity building of the local partner and active involvement of the target groups – both men and women - to the widest possible extent in the local situation. Within the ACT network, DanChurchAid intends to contribute with analyses and knowledge of basic issues related to the given disaster, to ensure that relief activities do not deteriorate an already desperate situation.

Quick response and needs assessment

Disasters will vary from one country to the next, and the resources of each country vary. Consequently, DanChurchAid will respond on the basis of a needs assessment carried out in co-operation with the local partner and supplemented with the necessary external expertise. The important task is to respond quickly and efficiently to the disaster while at the same time paying attention to the development context being affected by the disaster.
