African Development Aid Association

11/02/2006: African Development Aid Association (ADAA) is an indigenous non-profit making NGO established in 1988. It currently operates in the central & southern parts of Ethiopia, specifically in Oromia Regional State.

ADAA’s mission is to facilitate sustainable community based development initiatives in its target areas with special emphasis on women, children & youth.

In its target areas, ADAA intends to: Enhance access to education and information in general, and basic education, in particular;

  • Increase accessibility, availability and acceptability of the RH/FP methods and services integrated with HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and fight HTPs that contribute to HIV/AIDS and related socio-economic factors.
  • Advocate for the Rights of women & children through awareness creation;
  • Facilitate access to basic food security for healthy and productive life;
  • Contribute to environmental conservation and rehabilitation;
  • Enhance its capacity through human resources development.

ADAA is a registered NGO with the Ministry of Justice and has signed general agreement with the Federal Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Commission /FDPPC. It has also specific working agreements with Oromia Region Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Commission ODPPC. ADAA is also member of Christian Relief Development Association /CRDA.

ADAA's partnership with DanChurchAid established since 2006 with the overall objective the project is to enhance the empowerment of women by increasing the awareness level about their rights, HTPs, and HIV/AIDS & contribute to the social & economic development of the project areas. ADAA is now undertaking the baseline survey at the project intervention areas.
