DanChurchAid is a member of Christian Relief and Development Association, the biggest NGO umbrella organisation in Ethiopia. CRDA was established during the 1973 drought by 20 church based agencies. 33 years later its membership has grown in number and diversity, especially after the fall of the communist regime in 1991.
By first rallying to save the lives of people from hunger and starvation and rehabilitating these and later on providing them access to basic necessities of life, it has made significant contributions in bringing about a better future for the less fortunate.
DanChurchAid has so far sponsored two CRDA projects. The first project was on the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSP) process, where the outcome was a postion paper on NGO Perspective on PRSP which then gradual led to the creation of a network: Poverty Action Network Ethiopia and further insights in how the poor in Ethiopia can obtain influence on the PRSP process. The other project was an advocacy campaign on land administration and use in Ethiopia.
