Partners and activities

DanChurchAid has been carring out relief aid in Malawi since the 1970s and is still carring out relief aid with partners primarily through our ACT appeals and with support from Danida (Danish International Development Assistance).

DanChurchAid partners in Malawi

Empowering partners

DanChurchAid's local partners are mainly church based organisations with a good grasp of the poor's situation at grass roots level, gained through a long-standing presence in the communities. Partners are chosen on the basis of common strategies and an assessment of the capability of the partner to fulfil implementation and reporting requirements.

DanChurchAid gives priority to empowering the partners themselves in raising the concern of their beneficiaries and expressing their views at national levels. This is achieved through building capacities in advocacy and via the consortium of church based organisations, which in Malawi started in 2002 as an Action By Churches Together (ACT) Forum .

A coherent approach

At the DanChurchAid Malawi office, a systematic approach to continuous evaluation of the projects and their contribution to the programmes are in place, combining conclusions from project monitoring visits to programme level in order to ensure a coherent approach to programmes.
