The Karimojongs in the North-eastern part of Uganda are primarily dependent on their livestock and farming but their traditional way of living is hard when rains become more and more eradicated. The Karimoja area is also hit by internal conflicts mainly because of poverty and the high illiteracy rate.
The drought preparedness program, which is funded by the European Commission and DanChurchAid, carry out trainings where local groups learn how to care and treat their valuable livestock, water dams are being established for the animals, and water pumps are repaired among other things.
The program helps 26.000 people in the districts of Moroto and Nakapiripirit.
