DanChurchAid's presence in Bangladesh is primarily rooted in the vast experience with poverty alleviation, represented by the partner organisation. This experience is shared by other partners in the near region via workshops, and exchange visits.
Through Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS), DanChurchAid supports an integrated and comprehensive poverty-oriented development programme in six districts (29 subdistricts) in the northern provinces of Rangpur and Dinajpur near the river Brahmaputra. RDRS has been working in Bangladesh for 29 years as the Bangladesh field programme of the
LWF/World Service
and is well experienced in food security, poverty reduction, disaster preparedness and local mobilisation. RDRS is also involved in disaster preparedness at national level, and the field staff is skilled to handle and attend to emergency tasks in disaster situations.
