As immediate assistance in the 2nd phase, RDRS is distributing a short-term survival package which includes 17 kg rice, 3.5 kg lentil, 1 litre edible oil, 1 kg salt, 2 pkt biscuit, 3pcs candles, 2 pcs matches and 1pc soap worth over taka 13 million (equivalent to USD 188,400) to 15,000 families in Kurigram District with fund from DFID Bangladesh.
With assistance from WFP and UNICEF, RDRS is also distributing High Energy Biscuit (HEB) and BP5 biscuit to 10,400 families in Kurigram District. Each family will receive 20 packets HEB and 3 packets BP5 biscuit.
RDRS will further provide relief assistance worth over taka 4.8 million (equivalent to USD 70,300) to 5,000 families in Lalmonirhat District with fund from UNDP. Each relief package contains 5 kg chira, 1 kg gur, 20 pcs water purifying tablets, 5 sachets of ORS, 1 mosquito net, 2 pcs carbolic soap, 2 pcs laundry soap, 6 pcs candles, 1 match box, 1 saree (women’s wear), 1 lungee (men’s wear) and 1gamcha(hand towel).
RDRS also received Tk 68,656 (equivalent to USD 995) from the World Bank Dhaka (staff contribution) to assist flood victims in Lalmonirhat District.
Earlier, RDRS has distributed emergency relief in Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari Districts utilising 53 lakh taka. The relief materials included tarpaulins, foodstuff, tubewells, latrines, and health items.
