Programme work

DanChurchAid's focus is internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Burma and Burmese refugees on the border between Burma and Thailand. DanChurchAid supports IDP projects, rural development projects, AIDS prevention and coordination of ecumenical activities.

DanChurchAid's Relief Aid Programme ensures a huge emergency engagement in relation to the Burmese refugees in Thailand. Due to the negative human rights situation in Burma, it is natural for DanChurchAid to follow the situation closely in order to assess and support future possibilities for a safe return of the refugees.

DanChurchAid is exploring possibilities for supporting long-term development activities once democracy is restored in the country in cooperation with partners within the Burmese civil society. DanChurchAid will continue to listen to the people in/from Burma and to voice their concerns through advocacy and lobby activities in cooperation with partners.

The administration and monitoring of DanChurchAid's work in Burma takes place from the DanChurchAid regional office in New Delhi .
