DanChurchAid (DCA) and british sister organisation
Christian Aid
(CA) will join offices and programmes in Cambodia from april 2nd 2008. This means, that the two organisations will unite their efforts against poverty, as well as their staff and logos.
”We hope that this collaboration will enable us to make better use of our ressources and strengthen our work with the poorest men, women and children in Cambodia.” says Carsten Trier Hoej, Representative of DCA and new leader of the joint Cambodia office.
DCA and CA have a joint budget on 21 million DKK, that will be used in the fight against HIV/AIDS, gender based violence, trafficking, food security, land rights and disaster preparedness.
The joint office has eight employees. They manage the collaboration with the 23 local organisations, who are implementing the various development projects that DCA/CA support in Cambodias poorest provinces.

. But this is the first time than an actual union in of a country programme has taken place.
”It wont be the last time we try this. We are planning a similar collaboration in Sri Lanka, and over the years, we plan to unite with sisterorganisations in other countries as well, so we can stregnthen our efforts for the poorest in the world.” Says Secretary General of DCA, Henrik Stubkjær
