Sewalanka Foundation

Sewalanka was established in 1993 and works throughout the island to empower target communities. It delivers relief, rehabilitation and long term development assistance. Relief and rehabilitation interventions have been implemented in the North East over a long period of time and the organisation is thus familiar working in conflict affected areas and has the transport and procurement capacity to do larger scale projects. The partnership was established in 2004 with support of livelihood recovery of IDP fishermen in Batticaloa. After the tsunami, DanChurchAid supported Sewalanka’s large scale delivery of emergency relief items and temporary shelter in the eastern districts of Ampara and Batticaloa.
