The program “Access to Basic Services” is focused specifically on access to education, health services and housing for people without internal registration, also called propiska.

By joining forces, DanChurchAid and partners aim to contribute to reform the internal registration system, propiska, in order to ensure full enjoyment of basic rights for everyone in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Activities include meeting the basic needs of the poor and vulnerable groups as well as advocating for structural changes. The target groups include vulnerable children, pensioners and internal migrants.

Examples of activities:

  • Mobilising internal migrants in order to improve their livelihood
  • Lobby interests of vulnerable groups to authorities on all levels
  • Mobilising self-help-groups for pensioners
  • Improving living conditions for pensioners through advocacy
  • Strengthening the civil society by promoting vulnerable groups’ participation in political processes
  • Assisting working and street children to return to school
  • Medical care for children and their poor families
  • Teaching children about their rights and life skills
  • Supporting faith based social actions
