Access to health care

16/09/2006: DanChurchAid works with access to health care in Israel/Palestine. The right to access humanitarian aid and services is a human right that includes access to adequate and affordable primary health care. In the context of marginalisation of international humanitarian law in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Palestinian population is effectively deprived of this right.

It is the right of every person to enjoy the highest available standard of physical and mental health.

The restriction of movement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories makes it increasingly difficult for Palestinian health professionals to access patients and for patients to physically access adequate health services.

Health and hope across the wall

Since 2004, Augusta Victoria Hospital – in cooperation with the Israeli authorities - has run a humanitarian bus route in order ensure passage for patients and health workers from the West Bank.

In return, the hospital guarantees that only patients and employees with a valid travel permit make use of the bus service. Support dialysis patients...

Augusta Victoria Hospital, East Jerusalem

Palestinian children and youth experience extreme violence on an almost daily bacic and many are injured physically and mentally traumatised. Health Clinics for the Poorest Areas of Gaza City

The Palestinian Authorities cannot ensure the basic health services for the one and a half million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip. DanChurchAid supports three clinics, operated by the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) , that serve 150,000 people, especially women and children, with medical examinations, advice, family planning and home-visits. The clinics focus on reproductive health, nutrition and infectous diseases.
