24 million DKK for Humanitarian Mine Action

14.05.2008: The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Danida) has granted 24 million DKK for DanChurchAid’s HMA programmes in Africa and Asia.

The funds are earmarked for the HMA programmes in Angola, Sudan, DR Congo and Burma. In Africa th

e Danida funds will help identification of mined areas and the clearance of mines and unexploded ordnances from areas used by the local population. In Burma the funds will be utilised towards Mine Risk Education.

In Sudan, the HMA programme is working in the Nuba Mountains, in DR Congo in the Eastern part of the country and in Angola in the Eastern part where numerous refugees and internally displaced persons are returning after 27 years of civil war.
