In DR Congo women are being sexually assaulted on a regular basis. Nobody knows the extent of the assaults, but word has it, that it is tens of thousands. Margaret is one of the women, who has survived.

The real name of the now 18 year old woman is not Margaret. It has been changed in order to protect her from further assaults. The place where she was hiding after she escaped her persecuters has also been concealed.
Today, Margaret lives somewhere else thanks to an organisation supported by DanChurchAid. Moreover, within the framework of ACT International, several sister organisations to DanChurchAid also work together against gender based violence in DR Congo.
