After eleven years in Macedonia, DanChurchAid has begun to phase out. However, DanChurchAid partner MCIC is working country-wide and embodies all the country’s ethnic, social and religious differences. MCIC will continue to play an important role as the bridge builder and spear head for the interests of the ordinary population in Macedonia.
DanChurchAid has been concentrating its activities in Macedonia on two areas; strengthening the regional dialogue between the ethnic and religious groups in the country, and supporting the Roma in obtaining equal rights of access to education.
In partnership with Operation Day's Work 2000, DanChurchAid has supported a project for young Romas. Part of the project was targeted at Romas of school age and aimed at motivating them to participate in education and to complete their schooling. Another part of the project was targeted at young Romas up to 25 years of age offering vocational education as well as cheap loans and courses on how to manage small businesses.
