Under the thematic area Right to Health, DCA Malawi focuses on the prevention, treatment and mitigation of the impact of HIV and AIDS.
The programme remains relevant since the population in Malawi continues to be adversely affected by the HIV and AIDS Pandemic, which accounts for 25% of all deaths. It is also a major factor in the country’s low life expectancy of just 54.8 years.
The programme runs from 2012-2017 with the overall programme objective to ensure that the marginalized poor, especially young women and girls vulnerable to HIV and AIDS and the elderly, and children affected by HIV are protected and empowered to exercise and enjoy their human rights in relation to HIV and AIDS.
DCA collaborates with local NGOs as partners in implementing Rights-based and gender sensitive interventions that meet the HIV and AIDS programme objectives.
