Jonas Nøddekær stepped in as acting Secretary General in January when Birgitte Qvist-Sørensen left the post. Jonas came from a position as International Director in DanChurchAid. By 1st May he can strike ‘acting’ from his title.
Marianne Hoff Andersen, Chair of the Board of DanChurchAid, says:
“We are very pleased with the strong field that applied for the position of Secretary General – and of course also very proud that DanChurchAid itself could deliver the strongest candidate for this important position. The appointment committee and the board unanimously pointed to Jonas Nøddekær on the basis of a thorough appointment process.”
“Jonas Nøddekær has strong qualifications both professionally and managerially. He is the right person to continue DanChurchAid’s value-driven commitment in collaboration with our supporters in the Danish church community and our committed volunteers as well as our strong emergency aid and development work among the world’s poorest.”
“Jonas Nøddekær is the perfect Secretary General to strengthen and develop the current strategy – to transform the organization and work in a changing and turbulent world in the future. The board looks forward to working with our new Secretary General.”
Jonas Nøddekær, Secretary General of DanChurchAid, says:
“I am proud and humbled to be appointed new Secretary General – and I look forward to working with the board, employees and partners. We are facing a difficult world with wars, crises and climate change and a changing geopolitical reality, but we are used to navigating choppy waters, even when it is difficult. We help people in need, create development and offer real solutions to complex global problems.”
“After many years in DanChurchAid, I have gained a broad and in-depth knowledge of all corners of the organization. So I feel well equipped for the task. In my new position as Secretary General, I look forward to getting to know our popular support base and our church support base better. DanChurchAid is a very special community with over 3,000 volunteers in recycling shops and Wefood, parishes, boarding schools and folk high schools, scouts and many more. They make a difference for the world. Finally, I look forward to continuing and strengthening cooperation with the many companies, organisations, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and foundations that we cooperate with for the benefit of the world’s most vulnerable people.”
