Procurement and Logistics
Procurement of goods and services and its logistics are an integral part of the practical emergency and development work in DCA. It is therefore an element to support the overall goal of empowering the poorest in their struggle for a dignified life.
We believe that proper procurement and logistical management benefit the people we assist, because it supports the honest and efficient use of the entrusted funds received from donors. This propelled the development of the first procurement manual in 2004 and today the Procurement and Logistics Manuals are important tools in achieving these goals.
The application of the DCA Manuals ensure equal opportunities and fair treatment of our suppliers, as well as responsible procurement through transparency, integrity, sustainability, best quality and value for money. This is in line with international standards and EU requirements.
In DCA, we support sustainable development utilizing knowledge and resources in the country of work. To support the communities and the development of near and regional markets, we purchase goods and services in the project area whenever possible and pertinent. Our implementing partners and procurement and logistics officers in the Country Offices undertake the majority of procurement for projects and programs in DCA. The Procurement and Logistics Unit at the headquarters in Copenhagen, is responsible for procurement and logistics for DCA’s self-implementing efforts such as the Humanitarian Mine Action programs. Furthermore, the Unit offers expert support to DCA’s Country Offices and partners worldwide.
