Acts of Humanity: Supporting Families Displaced Again

On World Humanitarian Day, we celebrate turning solidarity into action

DCA Syria

Towards the end of 2024 around one million people were displaced from many areas across Syria – some for the second time. Around 1 in 10 arrived in North-East Syria – and reception centres in Ar-Raqqa and Tabqa quickly filled up. After that schools, mosques, stadiums and residential buildings were used to accommodate the newly displaced.

Following the influx of IDP arriving to Ar-Raqqa Governorate, DanChurchAid (DCA) and National Partner Al-Amal for Relief and Development with support from DCA’s Humanitarian Crisis Fund (HCF) initiated an emergency response intervention to provide light rehabilitation and maintenance of 7 collective centers. This was to enhance the safety and dignity of the residents, in addition to the distribution of heating kits and trash bins reaching 563 individuals.

At the same time, DCA national partner Al-Amal provided Ready-to-eat meals to 101 individuals through three rounds of distribution, baby diapers to 55 individuals, Elderly diapers to 6 individuals, psychological first Aid (PFA) through Mobile Outreach teams to 81 Individuals,  and case management and referrals services to 63 Individuals.

Without the support from the Humanitarian Crisis Fund, a total of 1,334 individuals wouldn’t have been able to receive timely support under these very vulnerable circumstances. On behalf of the beneficiaries, DCA would like to say ‘Thank You‘ to the Humanitarian Crisis Fund for their timely support in such a critical time
